Body Positive
Hi everyone!
Today I want to write about "body positive". This new trend on social media aims to make people adopt more positive attitudes towards their bodies, improving self-steem regarding their own image, regardless of the shape, characteristic or size, and valuing their unique identity.
This movement has gained more popularity in recent years because both, unknown and famous people, have promoted and put into discussion this important topic. Although it is women who have historically been oppressed by having to satisfy canons of beauty and behavior, this phenomenon is intended to embrace all people who have been discriminated because of their bodies making them hate how they look.
I think it is necessary to promote perspectives that help people to love and accept their bodies even when every body is different, however I believe that this movement has been used in an advertising way. A case that exemplifies this is the current advertising of WOM, which a few years ago was characterized as being openly misogynist but which currently uses feminism and this movement as a marketing strategy.
