Swimming!

Hi! Today I want to write about my  favourite subject this semester: Swimming. This subject is focused both in terms of physical conditioning   and also to learn to swim the four main styles or strokes: free, backstroke,  breaststroke and butterfly. In the classes, we do different exercises to develop strength,  coordination and endurance. Throughout the semester you will learn the styles mentioned above. These are from least to greatest difficulty, because of that in the end of the classes, the final assessment  is to participate in a competition.  I really love this subject because it was a challenge for me. At the beginning of this semester I didn´t know how to swim, the water always was something scary and dangerous for me but I made a promise with myself to learn it and overcome this fear. It was not easy, there were moments when I feel frustrated and I really wanted to give up. But over the time, I started to like and I could start t...

Body Positive

Hi everyone! Today I want to write about "body positive". This new trend on social media aims to make people adopt more positive attitudes towards their bodies, improving self-steem regarding their own image, regardless of the shape, characteristic or size, and valuing their unique identity. This movement has gained more popularity in recent years because both, unknown and famous people, have promoted and put into discussion this important topic. Although it is women who have historically been oppressed by having to satisfy canons of beauty and behavior, this phenomenon is intended to embrace all people who have been discriminated because of their bodies making them hate how they look. I think it is necessary to promote perspectives that help people to love and accept their bodies even when every body is different, however I believe that this movement has been used in an advertising way. A case that exemplifies this is the current advertising of WOM, which a few years ago ...
Hi! The post of this week is about a very useful website that is related to my career. The website is  American Journal of Physical Anthropology . This journal was founded in 1918 by Aleš Hrdlička, an   Austro-Hungarian  anthropologist eradicated in the United States, and it has been fundamental in the development of this discipline. In this peer-reviewed scientific journal you can find not only the most recent publications but also the oldest ones, so it is a valuable website to know how the trends on research topics in Biological Anthropology have varied. The online version of this journal has different sections to help accessing to information and papers. I usually visit this website every month but sometimes I use it more frequently because I have to look for references about certain topics. In that matter, I like that this website has a good search engine because it makes it easier to find what one needs. Futhermore, in my opinion, this is a good w...
Imagen
Hi! This new post is about an special photograph  to me.   This photo was took by my boyfriend on the last summer. The place was in a hot spring called Huife and was located near of Pucon, in the ninth region of Chile. In the photo I was standing in the middle of a hanging bridge, looking at the camera and smiling.    I really love this picture because it was a very special moment in my life. The day before when it was taken, we went to Huerquehue national park and we did the San Sebastian trail, one of the most difficult routes because it is necessary walk a long distance (almost 7 km) and hike in the last part of the trail. In the beginning I think I can´t able to finish this route, my heart was  violently  beating. Anyway, I don´t know how but finally I can reach the top of the hills. The view of the volcanos, araucaria forest and lakes of the surroundings was amazing.   When I come back to the place where I was staying, I can...
Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog! I want to talk about an amazing game that I played last week. This game is >observer_ a cyberpunk horror story developed by Bloober Team, released on august 15th 2017. This game takes place in Krakow, Poland, in the year 2084. The protagonist is called Dan Lazarski (played by the actor Rutger Hauer), an observer (some kind of detective in the future), whose purpose is to hack the minds of the people in order to reconstruct the events of their life and understand how the crime happened. Also he has an embedded implant that allows him to analyze his surroundings on a forensic level. The story begins when Lazarski is waiting in his car and suddenly he receives a misterious call from his son. The cryptic message awakens his curiosity, then he traces the call, finds out that it was from a C class district (a dangerous area in the city). He arrives to a deteriorated building where he asks about the apartment of his son. When he reaches there, no one...
Hi! This time I want to write about my career, like I wrote in the post of the last week, I study Physical Anthropology at Universidad de Chile. When I was a child   I never heard about anthropology, at this point, I wanted to be a med because I found interesting to learnt about anatomical and physiological issues of the human body. When I was in my last year of high school, my interests changed, I love literature, history and social sciences. So there was so many options to chose a career. This was a hard decision, because, at that moment, I had other options that I think were great such as history or philosophy but now, I really grateful that I didn't chose them. What helped me to decide was that in the career of Anthropology I would had courses of differents study areas for example biology, archaeology and social studies. So I think that this career will be interesting to learn all this areas. Now I think that it was a good decision, my experience at university was great...
Hi! I`m Tamara Márquez, I was born on the september 9th in Santiago, Chile. I'm 23 years old. My whole life I have lived in the same country, same city and same house with my parents and older brother. I never had a pet (yes, It's so sad, I really want a cat).  I studied in an elementary school very near  my home. I didn’t like so much, however, I received a good education in there. Nowadays, It has changes a lot. In 2007, I changed to Liceo N°1 Javiera Carrera high school. The first year was so hard, I didn’t get used to the new classmates and teachers but as the years passed I loved this high school. In 3° grade, I repeated because of the protest of students in all the country, this was the best decision I ever made. I started to study Anthopology at Universidad de Chile since 2014.  I love my career but I want to graduate soon.  This year I need to finish my dissertation, I'm so scared about that.  When I have free time, I practice yoga and pole fitness....
